After a month or so of back and forth trips and just-missed phone calls, we finally got to meet the big ol bunny I got my heart set on. There were two rather large holland lops to choose from, a Shy Guy and an Go-Getter Girl. After a little time spent talking to the volunteers and some irrisistably cute snuggling on the bunny's part, we went with the male.
The ride home was, thankfully, without incident, and as we've had nearly 5 cubic foot cage assembled since the first day we talked to the East Valley Bunny people there was nothing left to do but fill the water bottle and open the door to the pet carrier. I had already placed the carrier so that when he left it, he would immediatly have entered the cage, but after 3 hours of leaning out then changing his mind I took the lid off the carrier and helped move him along.
As I had expected, he's quite aprehensive. He doesnt care much for me touching him yet, but I'm new so I don't think I can blame him there. He did catch on with the litter box right away, though I apparently had it on the wrong side of the hay bin. With a bit of assistance from me I think he's pretty much got things the way he wants them in there now. We had to move the water bottle 4 times before he was satisfied with it, and he still bumps his nose on it from time to time, but we're both content with the way it looks.
